TEXTILE CREATIONS

Hanneke Reinalda is an international award-winning textile artist and MAS Art Studio artist-in-residence. Textile Creations is a textile art Masterclass with Hanneke exploring her unique and engaging techniques and processes of making.
CHARCOAL PORTRAITURE
Mondays 7, 14, 21, 28 FEB

Charcoal has remained a popular medium for drawing since the Renaissance. Because of the softness of its drawing edge, charcoal tends to favour broad, vigorous draftsman ship, with an emphasis on mass rather than on linear precision. In this workshop we will focus on the light and shadow of the face.
CLAY PORTRAIT
Tuesdays 8,15,22 FEB

Clay Portrait is dedicated to exploring identity. Participants will create a clay relief self-portrait. Using observation, memory, and touch, discover how one can make a representation of one’s facial features and expressions. The workshop focuses upon the importance of developing observational skills and various techniques of working with clay.
SCULPTURE
Wednesdays 9, 16, 23 FEB
5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Explore and experiment with a variety of sculptural processes. Each workshop will explore its own area of creating 3D forms, from reductive and carving techniques in blocks of clay, to constructing wooden reliefs, and, building forms using a range of materials and plaster. Choose to take one, two or all three sessions.
HAND BUILT CERAMICS
Sundays 6, 13, 20, 27 FEB

Create forms with your hands using common techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab building.
Junior Workshop (6 – 12 Years)

ART MASTERS
Tuesdays 8,15,22 FEB

Inspired by the ADMAF exhibition Portrait of a Nation II: Beyond Narratives, gain an insight into the art of Najat Maki, Mohammed Ibrahim and Hassan Sharif. Examine their art practice and processes to create your own artwork in the manner of the artist to take home.
CLAY FIGURES
Saturdays 5, 12, 19, 26 FEB
4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
In this workshop the participants will explore creating figurines of themselves and their friends in their favourite activities, poses, and gestures, using air drying clay, and situate themselves in different settings and group dynamics. They will create a variety of figures which can then be arranged into different group formations and coloured using acrylic paint.
COLOUR EXPERIMENTS
Fridays 11, 18, 25 FEB
4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
The workshop consists of several colour experiments (pouring colours, splash colours, pull colours, colour moves with air dryer. These experiments make children get creative through spontaneous experimentation and enjoy the results)

Spark your child’s imagination by turning popular children’s stories into fun art activities. Children accompanied by their favourite adult are invited to join our weekly storytelling sessions, followed by art activities inspired by the characters, places, and events featured in each week’s children’s tale.
